Rehabilitation of the ex-incinerator of S. Donnino

The large abandoned building for waste disposal has been reconverted into the opposite function as a museum and centre for research on ecology and the environment, becoming additionally the nucleus of both a new and complementary architectural structure and of a theme park that re-configures and re-qualifies one of the most problematic suburbs of the city.
The aim of the project, in strictly architectural terms, is that of reconciling the re-conversion as a museum of the ex-incinerator with the need of new spaces to be destined to the research centre, to additional service facilities (congress hall, hotel-guesthouse, restaurant, cafeteria, toilets) and to a social centre for the neighbourhood.
