For the ex-headquarters of Telecom in Florence on Via Masaccio an intervention is proposed for its transformation into quality residences; the building faces Via Masaccio, a circulation artery that was created with the expansion of the district of the Mattonaia, which carries the traits of bourgeois society around the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The intervention for the conversion into residences, which responds to the current standards that guarantee environmental sustainability, is aimed at producing a rich and varied architectural organism that includes high technology installations, greenery, spaces for social interaction, work and entertainment. The common services and the volumetric conformation of the spaces interrupt the horizontal rhythm which characterises the entire building, introducing areas devoted to greenery and creating interior urban fabric that are both varied and shared. The re-conversion intervention for the office building proposes a functional innovation by combining the residence with shared services such as a swimming-pool, a restaurant-bar, spaces for practicing hobbies, as well as a green-house and terraces for relaxing. The ground floor can be made public, thus opening the project to the neighbourhood.
